Joseph’s Safety and Security Corner:
The lake water levels are up and the fishermen are arriving. Security has a few reminders about fishing in the Park. Fishing privileges are only for residents, lot owners, and their guests when the resident or lot owner is physically present. A valid California Fishing License is required for those 16 years of age and older. Fish and Game Wardens do monitor the lakes here, and our guards will monitor for trespass activity. Fishing in the golf course lakes is prohibited at all times. Practicing catch and release will help insure a healthy and large fish population for the enjoyment of residents and owners of YLP.
The coyote packs are a concern as far as small domesticated animals are concerned. Due to various laws the coyotes cannot be trapped, shot or poisoned by local, state or federal officials. Therefore it is incumbent for us small animal owners to take steps to protect them. Some ways are to keep them secured in your home or an enclosed kennel whenever possible. Remember that if a small dog is tethered to a run line then the dog’s escape route, if a coyote encounters it, is only as large as the run line and its tether line. A few animal attacks by coyotes when the animal is tethered to a run line are reported to Security every year. Be aware of this situation if a run line is what you use to secure your dog.
Reports of ATV riding in the Park are on the rise. A county ordinance and ECC regulations prohibit ATV riding in the Park, even for maintenance purposes. The sheriff and CHP will enforce the ordinance with a citation and/or impoundment of the ATV. Please adhere to these regulations.
